What are the benefits of a Quality Control Inspection?

Quality Control Inspections benefit companies by improving the quality of the products they source from suppliers worldwide. Many firms require a consistent quality product from their suppliers and therefore many use a Third Party Inspection company to check the product at the supplier assists them in achieving this.

Quality Control Inspections focus on the three primary quality stages in the production process:

  • Review Inspections – Reviews of goods for defects before they depart the Seller
  • Process Inspections – Inspectors check for sources of defects and advise on remedies
  • Preventative Inspections – Inspectors check processes and look for areas to improve quality

The specific inspections for each of these quality stages are:

Review Inspection

Process Inspection

Preventative Inspection

So, what type of quality control inspection is the best?

The best type of inspection for you is the inspection which helps solve the defects and problems you are experiencing.  For most companies who source “off the shelf” standard products, a Review Inspection is suitable. This ensures that the goods which they are purchasing are not defective.

For companies outsourcing production to a factory and experiencing delays due to a high number of defects being identified during the Review Inspection phase, then a Process Inspection is suitable has the inspector will review the production line to identify the areas where the defects are occurring.

A Preventative Inspection is the most suitable inspection for buyers who are establishing a new production line and what to prevent defects from occurring.  These inspections can be undertaken before production can start.

Why do some people think Quality Control Inspections has no benefits?

There are several reasons why some people believe that Quality Control Inspections has no benefits. The most common one is that the people have not used a professional or suitable quality control inspection company to conduct them.

Other buyers might have considered Quality Control a cost that needs to be reduced. However, they have selected the cheapest inspector rather than a professional quality control inspection company such as Goodada Inspections.

Another reason may be an individual has selected an incorrect inspection service. They may have picked a Review Inspection instead of a Process or Preventative Inspection.

So, do Quality Control Inspections mean I get zero defects?

Quality Control Inspections are part of an overall process of Continuous Improvement. The objective is to make a properly designed, properly constructed product and has used the proper materials. Quality Control Inspections can be used to review and assisting in identify issues in these categories.

So, do I need to hire a Full-time Quality Control Inspector?

It depends on the inspection you require.  However, for the most part, you do not need to hire a full-time inspector, as they can be costly. Sellers or factories will have their own quality control teams. So, most firms hire independent third party inspection firms such as Goodada Inspections to take charge of their global inspections. These firms offer third party quality checks and reviews, and they charge by the day. Goodada offers Inspection services in over 76 countries.

A full-time inspector may be required for long term inspection projects, and if a buyer requires their own Quality Control Manager to oversee the production within a factory.
