{"id":155,"date":"2014-06-17T14:43:37","date_gmt":"2014-06-17T14:43:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.goodada.com\/blog\/?p=155"},"modified":"2014-06-17T17:49:49","modified_gmt":"2014-06-17T17:49:49","slug":"asia-shipping-news-prices-to-remain-volatile-after-alliance-is-blocked","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.goodada.com\/blog\/asia-shipping-news-prices-to-remain-volatile-after-alliance-is-blocked\/","title":{"rendered":"Asia Shipping News &#8211;  Prices to remain volatile after Alliance is blocked"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today the Chinese Ministry of Commerce has officially blocked the plans of an alliance between some of the major shipping lines. \u00a0citing the potentially negative impact such a partnership would have on other carriers<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 13px;\">The Shipping lines Maersk, MSC &amp; CMA had been planning an Alliance to begin in the later part of 2014.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The alliance would have seen 229 vessels deployed on 29 trades with the fleet being run from a central control centre.\u00a0It had been felt by many that the alliance may bring a degree of stability back to the market and in particular Asia to Europe routes which has been extremely volatile since 2009 when a boom in new builds collided with the global financial crisis.<\/p>\n<p>This alliance had been approved by the EU and the FMC .<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 13px;\">Today\u2019s announcement has seen Maersk&#8217;s share price drop by 8.7% its biggest drop since 2012!!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 13px;\">With this announcement and with more tonnage due into the market from Coscon, UASC and others, the current volatility in the market is set to continue for the foreseeable future.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today the Chinese Ministry of Commerce has officially blocked the plans of an alliance between some of the major shipping lines. \u00a0citing the potentially negative impact such a partnership would have on other carriers The Shipping lines Maersk, MSC &amp; CMA had been planning an Alliance to begin in the later part of 2014.
